March Word of the Month - Emergence
by Linda Lee Sheldon on 03/02/15
Spring is my favorite time of year. It's a time when new sprouts begin to poke their heads out of the earth and flowers begin to form. Spring arrives in the Northern Hemisphere on March 20th at 3:45 pm PST.
In honor of the new beginnings the word this month is Emergence - The process of coming into view after being concealed. The process of coming into being.
When we think of emergence words like surfacing, appearance, materialization and coming out come to mind. But there's more to that little sprout or flower bud than meets the eye! That new little plant is the result of a seed that lived underground, nourished by the Earth, sprouting roots, developing personality and character. It welcomes the warmth and emerges into the open to drink in the fresh air and sunshine. As it grows it grows and gains strength and the flower buds begin to appear. It ventures into the world to share beauty and joy!
Like that little plant that emerges from the earth and goes on to create flower buds, we too experience similar cycles. During the winter months we go within, reflecting and recharging. It may be that the weather keeps us indoors or just the cycle of our emotions. Now it's our time to plant the seeds of intention for the Springtime emergence of our desires.
What would you like to emerge forth from you or in your life? Now is the time to plant those seeds and nurture them. It might be something material, something physical or health-related, or something you want to share with the world.
Bring the thought of your desire into your mind. Imagine it being part of your reality. Start talking or writing about it. Love yourself enough to permit yourself to have it. Recognize that you deserve it. Take action to achieve it by shifting into the emotional state of what it would be like to have it. Watch it manifest in your life.
Remember to add statements like "easily and effortlessly" and "this or something better." Allow yourself to move in harmony with Nature like the plants. They don't worry about what they look like or what others think. They just burst forth in all their glory!
Emergence is manifestation - abundantly and beautifully in alignment with our desires. Plant your seeds of desire and enjoy your emergence into new possibilities!

February's Word of the Month - Love
by Linda Lee Sheldon on 02/01/15
In February we celebrate Valentine's Day. It's a day of sharing special treats of love with those in our lives who are dear to us. Not surprisingly the word of the month is Love - an intense feeling of deep affection.
We easily do this when we look at a baby or a newborn animal. They "touch our heart" and make us feel happy. That's the feeling of unconditional Love.
Love is the attribute of Heart Chakra, the energy center located at the heart area. In addition to being the center for processing unconditional love it also governs our balance, peace and calm. The Heart Chakra is associated with the heart, lungs and thymus gland - the gland that regulates our immune system. So keeping our heart filled with Love is very beneficial to our body, mind and spirit!
The next time someone is unkind to you, or downright mean and nasty, try focusing your attention on that idea of unconditional Love. Look at the person in a non-judgmental way. It's amazing how we start recognizing the beauty within the person in spite of their outward actions. Be Love, Share Love, Live Love Share your stories of Love with us!
Love is a beautiful emotion, if we can call it that. It seems more than an emotion when we think of the essence of this beautiful feeling. True Love is unconditional and non-judgmental, not object or action-dependent. It is the feeling that arises with the connection to our inner divinity. We've heard the saying "God is Love." Whether you call it God or The Universe or Divine Wisdom, when we tap into the God-essence within ourselves and others we can experience the fullness of Love.
Reiki Energy Benefits Everyone!
by Linda Lee Sheldon on 01/28/15
Energy Medicine is being called a "frontier medicine" by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and is a valuable component in the Holistic Health approach to wellness. Reiki is one form of energy medicine that is easy to learn and use. Anyone seeking balance or clarity of purpose can benefit from being attuned to Reiki - all ages and conditions.
Reiki is an ancient form of energy medicine healing technique that we lost connection with. This technique was rediscovered by a Japanese man who gave it a Japanese name.
The word Reiki very simply means Universal Lifeforce Energy
Rei - From the Universe / Source / God
Ki - Lifeforce Energy (Chi)
Reiki is referred to as "Spiritually-guided Lifeforce Energy." It is the Lifeforce Energy that holds the Wisdom of the Universe. As such, it knows exactly what each of us needs and how to work with our inner wisdom to promote harmony in life.
Reiki is a way of connecting with the energy and wisdom that is all around us. It works to clear old emotions that no longer serve us so we can live our lives without the filters created by past events. Reiki works on all areas of our being - physical, mental and emotional - to bring peace, revitalized energy and clarity of purpose. It's a gentle, loving energy that works personally with each individual.
Reiki works with each of us in the manner that is best suited for our needs. Professional caregivers and teachers such as yoga instructors, massage or physical therapists, chiropractors, counselors, doctors, nurses or caretakers benefit from this gentle energy as do mothers, fathers, working professionals, skilled laborers and artists.
Reiki is not a substitute for regular professional care. It is considered a Complementary Alternative Medicine that works well with any form of eastern or western medical care.
There are two ways to experience Reiki:
Reiki Therapy Sessions for health and wellbeing - regain balance from stress or illness or to recharge and pamper yourself. A Reiki Practitioner attuned to the Reiki energy helps you connect with this gentle energy, relax and regenerate. A session is generally around 90 minutes and consists of about 60 minutes of energy work on the therapy table (fully clothed) with discussions before and after therapy. Session length and process varies with practitioner. Select a practitioner with a good reputation and that makes you feel comfortable after discussing their practice.
Reiki Attunement Classes teach about what Reiki is, how it works & how you can use the Reiki energy for yourself and others (including family, friends & animals). There are three levels of Reiki training and attunements. You can choose to do just one, two or all three depending on what you are comfortable with and your needs. After an attunement class you will be able to use Reiki energy to help yourself and others. But you don't have to want to practice it on a professional level. Many people become attuned to Reiki for personal use alone or to help family members. Reiki is easy to learn, easy to use and the attunements are permanent. Once attuned to Reiki you can never lose the ability to access it.
I recommend Reiki for anyone who wants to bring peace, balance and clarity of purpose to their life or work and for those who want to help others find peace and balance.
As a Reiki Master Teacher I am happy to answer your questions about Reiki. At Open-Ended Circle I offer both sessions and classes. And for those attuned to Reiki we have a Reiki Share evening once a month.
I look forward to sharing Reiki energy with you!

January's Word of the Month - Reflection
by Linda Lee Sheldon on 01/01/15
The New Year is a time of evaluating the past and looking towards the future. It's a time of new beginnings and a time for making a fresh start. It's a time of Reflection - the act of serious thinking or careful consideration.
On New Year’s Eve or in early January we make resolutions for actions to be adopted or accomplished in the new year frequently based on our desire to improve the future. We look at the year that has just passed and reflect on the good times we've had, the successes and the disappointments. We honor those who have passed and we recount the highs and lows of the year. January is a time of reflection on the past that inspires and guides us to resolutions for new beginnings.
If you haven't already, I encourage you to spend a few minutes today or tomorrow in quiet reflection and contemplation. Remembering that you have not and cannot do it wrong - whatever it is you do. And if you are having difficulty identifying a resolution consider using one of "I align with source energy." Your inner wisdom will know what that means!
I wish you a Joyful New Year!

December's Word of the Month
by Linda Lee Sheldon on 12/12/14
December brings us the time of Solstice, a time when the sun appears to stand still before it begins to move across the sky in the opposite direction. We can take a a tip from the sun and take a few minutes to go into that quiet space of suspended activities to regain our balance and calm the chaos.
The word of the month is... Silence - the absence of audible sound. Just a few minutes of silence or "quiet time" can bring a peace to our inner world.
For those who think it's impossible to have quiet time here's a little trick I use that works well. I set aside my thoughts and bring my attention to the present moment. In the present moment there is a softness that arises as the stress created by the thoughts subsides and the realization of the now comes into focus.
Look at what you are thinking about. Are you dwelling on the past? Focusing on the future? While we may not think of it as noise our thoughts can be noisy and very distracting! But if we can bring our attention, our focus to the present moment and what's happening right now there is a calm, a peace, a silence that arises.
We don't have to be consumed by the constant chatter in our minds. Mindfulness meditation techniques can help you move into the silence of the moment with easy techniques. Take a few slow deep breaths and/or replace the jumble of thoughts running through your head with a word or two repeated over and over in your mind. Or repeat a positive affirmation. These are a few techniques that can quickly take you to that quiet space.
You can learn more about the easy ways to incorporate Mindfulness Meditation into your daily life by taking a meditation class, contacting me for personal guidance or finding a resource in your area. I wish you peace and calm as you enter the Silence of the moment.
