The benefits of sitting in silence
by Linda Lee Sheldon on 02/20/13
It is interesting to think about the benefits of sitting in silence. When we are sitting in that silent place ... not dwelling on thoughts of the past or future, not trying to do anything, just being ... we are affected as much by what we are not doing as we are by the effects of what we are doing.
We are NOT worrying, fearful, jealous, grieving, mourning, depressed, sad, uncomfortable, insecure, subservient, controlled, controlling, planning, angry, upset, in pain, poor, pulled in 20 directions….you get the idea. We are not sending those energies out into the universe; not letting them fill our home; not having them influence our behavior. We just are. It is sometimes referred to as simply I Am!
And as a result, we create an environment for ourselves of reduced stress and more peace, calm and balance. It is a very healing energy to be in. And we fill our environment with these wonderful energies. The more we practice sitting in silence, the more the effects stay with us throughout the day. Problems don’t seem quite as huge, personalities not as offensive.
Sitting in silence just a few minutes a day can make a difference! I would love to hear your experiences!
